HOW I WORK:
Before starting any mix, I make sure I understand what you're going for. We talk through references, goals, and what matters most about the song, so I'm working towards your destination, not mine. My focus is on providing a collaborative, bespoke service.

I start with thorough session prep: checking every track, gain staging, and flagging any issues early. Then I build the mix through analogue-modelled channel strips and tape emulations (think Neve, SSL, API + many more), choosing the right sonic character for the project. From there it's balance, panning, EQ, compression, spatial work, and detailed automation. Every decision is about serving the song. I send you the first draft then we work together on refinement from there so you end up with exactly what you want.

Once the mix is right, I move on to mastering after a short break to reset my ears. Mastering is usually quick and painless because I aim for as close to a finished sound as I can in the mix.

MY BACKGROUND:
9 years as a studio engineer across home studios, commercial facilities, and two years as the main engineer at Loft Music Studios. I play guitar and have spent many years writing, arranging, and performing as well as engineering, so I understand your art as well as the technical side. Clients say that makes communication easier and means I can offer musical suggestions alongside sonic ones.

Pro Tools, UAD Apollo X16, Avid S1 + Dock, Adam A7X + Sub 8, Avantone Mixcube. Huge plugin collection: UAD, FabFilter, Waves, iZotope and many more. Axe FX II for guitar re-amping and creative processing. Nearly all the power during daylight hours comes from solar panels. I also value comfort and my studio must be one of the few in the world to have a wood-burning stove!
